Postpartum Depression Legislation

The Melanie Blocker Stokes MOTHERS Act recently was recently passed in the US House of Representatives. By funding education, the legislation stands to generate much-needed awareness that can lead to better detection and treatment of postpartum depression. However, the legislation still needs passage in the Senate. Mental Health advocates around the country have mobilized with a goal of having 1,000 organizations lending their support of the bill by Mother’s Day, as the MOTHERS Act will be re-introduced in the Senate the following week.
